Frequently Asked Questions
How often do I need WHMIS?
Every year the employer must review their WHMIS program and update workers, the certifcate has an expiry of 3 years.
As per the Ontario.ca website, it states:
"At least once a year, the employer must review the training and instruction provided to workers, in consultation with the joint health and safety committee or health and safety representative of the workplace, if any (subsection 42(3), OHSA )."
Therefore, if the organization has a change in work conditions, or new hazards in the workplace, then you may be subject to complete WHMIS training more frequently.
How long does the course take?
On average, most students complete the course in 45 minutes. Because all Lift Certified courses are self-paced, the time varies. Students have the ability to Pause, Rewind, and Stop the course at any time.
How long is the certificate valid for?
The certificate is good for 3 year from when it was issued.
Can I take the course on my phone?
Yes! In fact, you can take courses on any device. Because its web-based learning and not software, you can take these courses anywhere. You even can start a course on one device, pause, and resume the course on another device! It's that easy!
What is microlearning?
Microlearning is a way to deliver training programs or classes in small but highly focused pieces. Most modules are about 10 minutes long. In comparison, traditionally these same training modules were 45 minutes long each. This was due to teaching students everything rather than what they truly need to know. Filling student's heads with mindless phrases or even section numbers (ie. Section 6 or irrelevant numbers) is not effective and will have students hang on to those points rather than the most important ones. Our technical writers along with our instructors were able to remove the content that students don't need to know and focused on what they DO need to know. Our goal is to create the best eLearning courses that teach students the safest way to operate equipment in a way they can always remember.
