Frequently Asked Questions
Do I receive a Aerial Work Platform LICENSE when I finish the course?
In North America and the majority of the world, there is no real "License" when it comes to operating most equipment. However, there is a proof of completion or a Certificate you will earn when you complete the course. All Lift Certified courses with our certificate are accepted everywhere across North America and is designed for North American Standards such as CSA and OSHA Legislation.
How long does the course take?
On average, most students complete the course in 2 hours. Because all Lift Certified courses are self-paced, the time varies. Students have the ability to Pause, Rewind, and Stop the course at any time.
How long is the certificate valid for?
The certificate is good for 3 years from when it was issued.
Can I take the course on my phone?
Yes! In fact, you can take courses on any device. Because its web-based learning and not software, you can take these courses anywhere. You even can start a course on one device, pause, and resume the course on another device! It's that easy!
What is microlearning?
Microlearning is a way to deliver training programs or classes in small but highly focused pieces. Most modules are about 10 minutes long. In comparison, traditionally these same training modules were 45 minutes long each. This was due to teaching students everything rather than what they truly need to know. Filling student's heads with mindless phrases or even section numbers (ie. Section 6 or irrelevant numbers) is not effective and will have students hang on to those points rather than the most important ones. Our technical writers along with our instructors were able to remove the content that students don't need to know and focused on what they DO need to know. Our goal is to create the best eLearning courses that teach students the safest way to operate equipment in a way they can always remember.
I have completed the forklift training course online, am I fully certified?
Not just yet! Every operator course requires practical training for new operators or a practical evaluation for experienced operators. Practical evaluations are like a driving test. A competent person must test you on the specific equipment that you want to be certified on.
How do I complete the practical training or evaluation?
There are a few ways you can complete the practical training and evaluations.
You can visit one of our training partner links - Find a Training provider near me which will show you a list of our partners who complete the practical training in different areas across North America. Once that training has been complete, your full certificate will be issued.
Alternatively, your employer can complete the practical evaluation. Once completed, your Theory certificate along with the practical evaluation will make you certified!
Is there an extra charge for the practical evaluation?
If you complete this at your workplace, then no :) Just ask your manager to test you, and keep the copy of our completion along with the practical evaluation copy and you are good to go!
However, if you don't have access to the equipment, you will have to contact one of our partners here. The practical evaluation fee for experienced operators varies between cities, please check with the partner closest to you.
For new operators (limited or no experience) you will require practice time which typically costs more. Please visit here to find a Training provider near you which can assist you with the pricing.
